At its essence, it tells women to exist to please the man they’re with.

There was definitely a “right” and “wrong” way to sit.

Don’t talk while dancing.
Lest you be branded as a “careless woman.”
Don’t play with your undergarments.
It’s decent advice, but does it really need to be a “rule?”
